Los Angeles County Selects IVR from Tele-Works

Blacksburg, VA and Alhambra, CA (4 Aug 2009)—Tele-Works is excited to announce that the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Works (LADPW) chose Infinity.Teleconnect, a collaborative product from Advanced Utility Systems and Tele-Works, for their customer information and utility billing interactive voice response (IVR) system.

The Infinity.Teleconnect IVR solution provides customers with a real-time interface into the County’s utility billing system, allowing customers to hear their utility account balance, check payment history, and make payments to their account with a credit card or eCheck. Additionally, the IVR call flow will be available in both English and Spanish language options to better serve the high population of Spanish-speaking customers in the County.

Not only has access to account information been made easy, but the County will be able to proactively communicate with its citizens using the Tele-Works automated phone call-out solution. The County will be able to notify customers about many types of pertinent information including  water restrictions and boil alerts and even make calls to past due customers prior to service disconnections. Paired with easy payment options these services have shown to reduce shutoffs and associated costs due to delinquencies between 30-70%.

“We are very excited about the opportunity to serve LA County. Not only does this strengthen our relationship with Advanced Utility Systems and our business presence in California but it also allows us to bring the benefit of the most modern IVR technology to tens of thousands of people,” said Erik Amelink, VP Business Development, Tele-Works.

By deploying the Infinity.Teleconnect IVR solution, LA County is on its way to realizing additional efficiencies in its day-to-day operations and seeing a full return on its IVR investment in fewer than 12 months.
